The Kingdom Treasure

Jesus said, “The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field.” (Matthew 13:44)  This treasure wasn’t silver or gold ... a bigger house ... a shinier car ... or a better-funded retirement plan. It was something hidden—something that had to be discovered.

This treasure had great value and the man made the bold move of selling everything he owned to purchase it. What could this kingdom treasure be? Why is it so valuable? And where can we find it today?

Our Bible tells us that "the Son of Man came to seek and save those who are lost." The treasure He came to find and purchase was hidden in "the field" of mankind—spread throughout the nations of the world. Jesus laid down His life to make the costliest purchase in all of human history; the souls of men and women, boys and girls. What could be more precious?

We discover the treasure as Christ's love changes things. It changes bodies, minds, circumstances, and lives. The gifts YOU so generously give to Asia International Mission help us reach the least and the lost, and demonstrate that you are seeking the same treasure Jesus came and died for.

With every lost person who comes to Christ ... every hungry child fed ... every young girl rescued from the sex trade ... and every desperate person given hope, YOU are laying up "treasures in heaven."
