Your Divine Destiny

In every believer's life, there are three days that stand out above all others: the day of one's birth, the day of one's new birth, and the day of one's judgment. Of those three, one's Day of Judgment is by far the most significant. That day is what gives meaning to the other two.

The primary significance of your birth was that it set in motion a life that would one day be judged by God. The primary significance of your new birth was that it marked the beginning of a new life and lifestyle, which, if continued, would result in inheriting eternal life at your judgment.

"But now he has reconciled you by Christ's physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation--if you continue in your faith, established and firm, not moved from the hope held out in the gospel. This is the gospel that you heard and that has been proclaimed to every creature under heaven, and of which I, Paul, have become a servant." (Col 1:22, 23)

Think about how significant every person's Day of Judgment will be. Those who rejected Jesus Christ as their Lord will on that day be banished to hell, irreversibly. Unlike any previous day—from the day of birth to the day of death—the Day of Judgment ends all opportunity for a sinner to repent.

This life serves as a test for every one of us. God gives us a lifetime to make an eternal decision. Will we repent and believe in Jesus, or will we continue in willful unbelief? Will we make Jesus our Lord or will we continue to serve self and Satan? Our decision will determine if we perish in hell or live forever in God's kingdom.

God once said to Daniel, as recorded in the final verse of the book that bears his name: "As for you, go your way till the end. You will rest, and then at the end of the days you will rise to receive your allotted inheritance." (Dan. 12:13)

Just like Daniel, your divine destiny will ultimately be realized in the future kingdom. What we do now, in this life, will have eternal ramifications. There is, therefore, nothing more important than by trusting and obeying God.

Where Do Your Resources Come From?

"Go to the village ahead of you, and as you enter it, you will find a colt tied there, which no one has ever ridden. Untie it and bring it here.If anyone asks you, 'Why are you untying it?' tell him, 'The Lord needs it.'" (Luke 19:31)

It’s easy to have a scarcity mentality. When we look at limited resources and so many needs, it’s hard to see it from an eternal perspective. Where we see scarcity, Jesus sees the resources necessary for His will to be accomplished.

In this verse, Jesus is giving instructions to the disciples on how to find the colt that would carry Him into Jerusalem for the Passover. In Jesus’ ministry, the resources followed the ministry not the other way around. So He asked His disciples to have faith.

Imagine what it was like for these God-fearing disciples to go into town and take a donkey that didn’t belong to them. But their obedience showed that they trusted the Savior to provide the resources for the ministry.

When Jesus calls us to serve, we need to be willing to trust Him for the resources. If we require all the elements to be in place before we obey, we will say no to many opportunities that Jesus wants us to pursue. If we choose to step out in faith, we may look foolish and risky, but Jesus will be glorified as He accomplishes things through us with His resources.
