Reaching Out To a World in Need

Dr. Ralph Winter of the U. S. Center for World Missions has stated that “…India presents the greatest missionary challenge.” Indians worship over 330 million gods, goddesses and demons. It is the second most populated nation, consisting of more than 3,000 “people groups” and over 500 languages. It is the birthplace of Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, Transcendental Meditation, Eastern Mysticism, and Yoga, which are all elements of the New Age Movement. Less than 2.5% of the Indian population consists of Bible-believing Christians and approximately 70% of the over one billion Indians are children.

India will soon overtake China as the most populated nation in the world. With that distinction comes the fact that many of India’s people are suffering in desperate poverty and have no hope. Yet, in the middle of a Hindu dominated culture, that in many ways is hostile to and harasses Christians, the Lord is doing a miraculous work.

AIM and our Indian partners are reaching out to the people of Tenali in a powerful way through numerous acts of Christ-like compassion, kindness and love. Hundreds of children and their families are impacted daily through the ministries of AIM in Tenali.

Please consider what the Lord would have you do in reaching out to a world in need of a Savior!

The doors to present the Gospel are closing as new laws are being enacted against conversion and to restrict missionary activities by the pro-Hindu government. The mission of Asia International Mission is to “Make His Name Known” in the lives of those people we have the privilege to touch.

How to Reach...

Imagine a map of the world, beautifully enameled on ceramic. Let's paint a green dot wherever there is already a church or at least a mission station: there are green dots in almost every country in the world. Now lift the ceramic map high above your head, and SHATTER it onto the floor. Fragments fly everywhere, but very few of them have green dots (indicating existing churches or missions).

God shattered the world that way back in Gen.11 where it is recorded, "the LORD confused the language of the whole world. From there the LORD scattered them over the face of the whole earth."  (Genesis 11:9)

Suddenly, we see a more realistic picture of world evangelization. Although almost every country has a church, every society certainly does not have a church or missionary yet. Notice, for example, India is in over 3000 scattered fragments and only a few fragments have churches.

And, look! The fragments of India are scattered so far and wide, that those with a church in them have little chance of easily reaching those without a church. In many cases, because of caste prejudices, the "national Christians" in India are the least likely to be able to reach other Indians.

The same is true of the Muslim world, the Chinese, and the list goes on. In fact, worldwide there are more than 16,000 such separated cultures with no church or mission effort. These cultures make up half of mankind. So there's the challenge for the evangelical movement: What will it take to focus our attention on the remaining 16,000 or so cultures with no effective church or mission work yet?

Santosh

Here at AIM important steps are being taken:
1. Mobilize evangelical students and adults to commit their lives now in giving or going to the last frontiers.
2. Mobilize churches to look beyond their doors and catch the vision of penetrating the last frontiers.

Both these steps involve you in spreading the vision to all your friends.

Please help us to reach the least and the lost with the gospel of Jesus Christ by joining us on a Mission Trip or by Donating Here now.

Ten Ways To Ruin a Short-term Mission Trip

Believe it or not, it's possible to have a bad short-term missions experience. Usually, this is not the fault of the situation or organization. More often, the root cause is the short-termer's own attitudes and expectations.

To maximize your short-term experience, AVOID doing the things on this Top Ten checklist:
Keep narrowly focused on "spiritual" activities. Since you want to win people to Christ, focus on only the loftiest of things. Avoid menial work like data entry, loading trucks, or working on buildings. Such things will distract you from your primary task.
To tighten up your schedule, eliminate personal prayer and Bible study. You will be so rushed anyway that you probably won't have time. Besides, can't you get all the spiritual food you need from group devotions and from church services?
Stay organized and on schedule. Set detailed goals before you go. Establish schedules and refuse to deviate from them. Do not accept delays, last-minute changes, and impromptu visits and invitations. Those things will just keep you from getting things done for God.
Help the missionaries by pointing out their mistakes. Bring them up to date on what you've heard are the latest trends in missions. Some missionaries are stubborn. So, you may need to enlist some support among the nationals for your views about how things should be run.
Get involved romantically with someone. Being away from family and friends makes this the perfect time to get involved romantically. While it may distract you slightly from the work, you will be able to expose national Christians to America's progressive dating customs.
Don't embarrass yourself by trying to pick up the local language. People are always saying that English is spoken all over the world. So, insist that those people use it with you.
Immediately begin pointing out your team members' faults. Time is short. It will be difficult for people to make the needed changes if you don't help them right from the start. Focus your helpful criticisms on team leaders.
As you go all out in warring against dangerous germs, don't eat any of the local food. To be sure, you may miss some friendly opportunities with "the natives," but you'll keep those awful germs at bay!
Keep your distance from team members who couldn't raise their full support. They may try to mooch off you. Don't give in. Sweating over finances builds faith!
When you return home, scold your home church and friends for their lack of commitment, for their weak prayers, and for their inadequate giving to missions. This may be one of the few times you will have their deferential respect. Make the most of it.

If you'll do all of these Top Ten things (or even some of them), I can promise you a bad short-term mission trip.
