"So they pulled their boats up on shore, left everything and followed him." (Luke 5:11)
The challenge with the world’s priorities is that they make
sense. We can rationalize and spiritualize the world’s priorities, but that doesn’t
make them more desirable from an eternal perspective. When Jesus called the
fishermen to follow Him, He had just performed a miracle with a huge catch of
fish.
Amazingly, when the boats are brought back to shore, it says
that they “left everything and
followed him.” Did you ever wonder, “Who cleaned and stored all those
fish?”
It would have been easy for the future disciples to say, “We’ll
join you as soon as we get this job done.” It sounds very responsible. But in
this case, it would be the wrong choice.The disciples did the right thing
by dropping everything and immediately following the Savior.

Many times in outreach the world’s priorities creep in.
Sometimes it comes in the form of doing a task instead of stopping to pray with
someone. Other times it’s closing down a ministry because the money doesn’t
seem to be available—even when you know God wants you to do it. We have all
given in to the priorities all around us to the sorrow of our Savior.

Prayer Requests
Pray for the churches of India and for many curious
non-believers to attend in order to hear the gospel for (likely) the first time
and for their hearts to be open to the life-changing message.
Pray for
the spiritual growth of new believers and seekers who are facing indirect
opposition from their own community.
Pray that the Word sown in the hearts of the little children will bear
much fruit.
